SUMMARY

RESULTS OF SELECTION TWO ORCHID FLOWER VARIETIES: LVR2 AND LVR4

Orchid flowers (Phalaenopsis) are beautiful flower and a high economic value. Each year, there was a big mount of Orchid plants (about 40,000-50,000 plants) which were imported from China, Taiwan to supply the market of the Northern Vietnam. From 2006-2009, the Fruits and Vegetables Research Institute imported 8 Orchid varieties. The results have been selected two varieties of Orchids are LVR2 and LVR4 which has many good features, such as: good growth and development, height of branch with flowers (55-60cm), flowers 7-8 cm in diameter, a high proportion of flowering (> 90%), disease resistance and good heat tolerant, color, beautiful flower shape and a highly accepted by the market.
